There is an old saying that states “if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything” There is also another saying, “The only Jesus people will see is what they see in me”.
Acts 28:21-22 (MSG)
21-22 They said, “Nobody wrote warning us about you. And no one has shown up saying anything bad about you. But we would like very much to hear more. The only thing we know about this Christian sect is that nobody seems to have anything good to say about it.”
Apostle Paul had arrived in Rome and called for the Jewish leaders of the area. He told them the story of what led him to Rome and of his arrest and journey. He also mentioned that he was not there to cause trouble for Israel and that he was a hostage for Hope not doom. The Jewish leaders responded that they had heard nothing bad about Apostle Paul but would be willing to hear him out. They stated that the only thing they knew about the Christian sect is that nobody seem to have anything good to say about it.
We cannot control what people think about us but we can control what we say and how we act. We are not to be swayed by the opinion of others but rather moved by God’s Holy Spirit and His Word. Some people may like us and some may not, but as long as we are following God’s Word in Love we can be assured we are on the right path.
Whether we like it or not we are ambassadors for the kingdom of God. As ambassadors we are the only representation that the people around us will see of King Jesus. Their opinion of Jesus and His Kingdom will be directly correlated with our words and actions. That does not mean we will get it right all of the time.
There will always be those who will make excuses for their refusal to believe. They will want to point out every mistake that believers have made and use that as an excuse to continue living their life as they choose. However our job as ambassadors is to be the best representatives of the kingdom of God that we can be. Not relying just on ourselves but trusting in the Holy Spirit to help us with our short comings.
Let’s remember as we go about our day that we have the Father, the Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us. Jesus wants to love the world through us and we need to be sensitive to those who are hurting.
We have been given authority by Jesus to be an Ambassador of His Love. What we say and do makes a profound impact on our world around us. So let’s go out in His Love and give the world something good to say today!
