“Once and for All”

We have all heard the saying ” Once and For All” used at some point. The idea or concept of a one time act having the ability to finish, complete or accomplish a task seems impossible. Imagine one set-up or push-up giving us the body image we desire. How about attending school only one day and getting a degree or telling someone we love them only once and thinking that’s enough.

23-24 When they crucified him, the Roman soldiers took his clothes and divided them up four ways, to each soldier a fourth. But his robe was seamless, a single piece of weaving, so they said to each other, “Let’s not tear it up. Let’s throw dice to see who gets it.” This confirmed the Scripture that said, “They divided up my clothes among them and threw dice for my coat.” (The soldiers validated the Scriptures!)
24-27 While the soldiers were looking after themselves, Jesus’ mother, his aunt, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene stood at the foot of the cross. Jesus saw his mother and the disciple he loved standing near her. He said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that moment the disciple accepted her as his own mother.
28 Jesus, seeing that everything had been completed so that the Scripture record might also be complete, then said, “I’m thirsty.”
29-30 A jug of sour wine was standing by. Someone put a sponge soaked with the wine on a javelin and lifted it to his mouth. After he took the wine, Jesus said, “It’s done . . . complete.” Bowing his head, he offered up his spirit.

Jesus died on the cross once that we “All” could live forever with Him. Jesus made that one final sacrifice in order for us to be able to have a choice everyday.
Jesus died so we could live. On the cross He stated it was done and complete. Everything we need in order to be free happened on the cross. Everything we need to be whole, well and full of joy was completed that day and at that moment. With that “Once and for All”decision Jesus gave us the freedom and ability to have a choice everyday. Once we accept that sacrifice He made, we are free!
Thank God for sending His Son Jesus. Thank Jesus that He was willing to be obedient to make that “Once and for All” decision. Everyday we awaken we have a chance to make the same “Once and for All” life changing decision. If we think about that for a while, we will realize just how powerful that is.

We can choose “Once and for All” to follow His will instead of our own life destroying will. We can choose “Once and for All” to try again and again and to never stop trying. Because of His sacrifice we can live in His abundant grace and mercy daily. Then when we mess it up for the 70th time, because we live in an imperfect human frame, we get another opportunity to change because of His “Once and for All” decision.

We also get to make “Once and for All” decisions everyday concerning others around us. We can decide “Once and for All” that “All” our co-workers, fellow frustrating drivers, aggravating store clerks, politicians and family members who hurt our feelings are all forgiven. We can decide “Once and for All” to love “All” we encounter.

As we make our daily decision to follow His will and His Love we will see lives around us begin to change. Jesus made that “Once and for All” decision on the cross for “All” to have a chance to live. As we follow Jesus’ example of obedience and Love, we will give “All” that we encounter the same opportunity.

Let’s celebrate what Jesus did on the cross, the sacrifice He made and the love He shared. Let’s make that “Once and for All” decision today to accept His Love, forgiveness and sacrifice. Then let’s go and share His message of grace, hope and mercy to those around us.
