We all know that the disease called Ebola is a killer. The only cure for that disease is to get a sample of blood from someone who has survived the disease and make a serum or antidote. That person had the disease and overcame it so now their blood carries the cure.
Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.
Thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus we now have a cure available to heal us from the disease of sin. We are now free from sin because of Him and His sacrifice. Before Jesus came we were a world without hope. Before Jesus came into our lives we had no cure or chance of healing. Jesus is the antidote to a sin ravaged world . He took on sin, which brings forth death, overcame it on the cross and now His blood carries the antidote or the serum to cure the disease of sin.
Sin is like Ebola it will kill you. There is only one cure, the blood of Jesus. As we receive Jesus as our Savior we are receiving the antidote to overcome the disease of sin that was brought into the world by Adam’s fall. We now can walk free from the law of sin and death. We can now go boldly to the throne room of grace and ask, with expectation of receiving, help in time of need.
We now have within us the antidote to cure others of the retched disease called sin. We now have the cure and can help others become free. What a pity it would be to have the blood that carries the cure of Ebola within us and not tell anyone we have the antidote. To walk around and see the death fields of this disease and refuse to offer our help would be a crime.
That is in fact what we do very often. We see a ravaged world around us reeling from the effects of the disease called sin and we keep silent. We keep the antidote to ourselves, we refuse to let anyone know we have the cure. How sad it is to watch all the people around us die, our neighbors, friends and our own family. It does not have to be that way. We can change , we can begin today the antidote distribution needed to start curing those around us. We can offer the cure that we ourselves have received, Jesus!
