We were hopeless, and in a dark prison-house of sin and despair. We were in a prison of shame and quilt from sin. We were shackled by the enemy from our birth with no way to deliver ourselves.
Psalm 102:18-22 (MSG)
18-22 Write this down for the next generation
so people not yet born will praise God:
“God looked out from his high holy place;
from heaven he surveyed the earth.
He listened to the groans of the doomed,
he opened the doors of their death cells.”
Write it so the story can be told in Zion,
so God’s praise will be sung in Jerusalem’s streets
And wherever people gather together
along with their rulers to worship him.
We were the doomed prisoners that were groaning. Then He looked down from heaven and heard our groaning, our plea for help. Then He came, Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. He rescued us from our doomed prison-house and set us free.
What will we do with our freedom? Serve Him with all our heart, even when we fall, we will get back up and serve Him. God gave all of heaven to free us by sending Himself, as His Word made flesh, Jesus. The Son has set us free and we are free indeed.
Thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus we are no longer slaves to sin, shackled doomed prisoners but rather Sons and daughters of The Great King Himself, God. He loved us so much He came in the flesh, died and rose again to forever reign as our Lord. He will never leave us nor forsake us. We are His and He is ours, forever connected through Christ Jesus!
