There will always be people who will tell us to be quiet. They may be doing this out of ignorance or spite. Either way when it comes to seeking after all of God’s promises we will have to ignore the crowd. Most of the time if we want our healing in our situation to manifest, regardless of what form it is, financial, physical or mental, we have to keep believing no matter what anyone else does or says. As long as we are lined up with what God’s Word says we are on solid ground.
Mark 10:46-52 (MSG)
46-48 They spent some time in Jericho. As Jesus was leaving town, trailed by his disciples and a parade of people, a blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus, was sitting alongside the road. When he heard that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by, he began to cry out, “Son of David, Jesus! Mercy, have mercy on me!” Many tried to hush him up, but he yelled all the louder, “Son of David! Mercy, have mercy on me!”
49-50 Jesus stopped in his tracks. “Call him over.”
They called him. “It’s your lucky day! Get up! He’s calling you to come!” Throwing off his coat, he was on his feet at once and came to Jesus.
51 Jesus said, “What can I do for you?”
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
52 “On your way,” said Jesus. “Your faith has saved and healed you.”
In that very instant he recovered his sight and followed Jesus down the road.
In this story we see a blind man, who was named Bartimaeus, who wanted to see. He heard the commotion of the crowd and found out by asking that Jesus was walking by. He had heard of Jesus and began to yell for mercy. The crowd tried to shut him up but he would not have it. Jesus called him over, asked him what he wanted, and Jesus gave him his sight.
Once Jesus had healed the man He told him to go his way that his faith had given him his sight. However when he received his sight he followed Jesus in the way!
Before Jesus came by he was blind and had no choice where to go due to his blindness. Now he could see and Jesus told him to go his way or to choose his way. The blind man for the first time could make a true decision and he chose to follow Jesus in The Way instead of going his own way.
We too were once blind but now we see, once we have made Jesus our Lord. We have the same choice to make every day that Bartimaeus had to make that day, to choose our way, our path or The Way.
We can now choose right or wrong, this way or that, because we can see. Jesus gave us a choice, freedom. What will we do with our freedom? Follow Jesus in the way or go our own way? We will follow Jesus in The Way!
